Quick Smiles:

  • Parents helped a beloved crossing guard get reliable transportation.
  • The community pooled resources to secure the vehicle quickly.
  • Support covered key costs so she could keep working her route.

Trecia Crawford is a staple of Moss Haven Elementary School, known for protecting every child with a kind heart and a smile. After her car broke down six months ago, she spent her savings on ride-shares before eventually switching to the bus to reach her post.

The Moss Haven Dad’s Club stepped in after learning about her difficult commute. They quickly pooled their resources and expertise to ensure their favorite crossing guard wouldn’t have to walk or wait for the bus anymore.

“I was Lyfting here, and then when I ran out of money, I had to get on the bus,” Crawford said.

“But I had to do what I had to do.”

Crawford was shocked when the group surprised her with the white Jeep while she was working her morning shift.

“Community isn’t just a buzzword,” the local school district shared.

“It’s the action, time, and commitment of the parents, teachers, staff, and all those who show up.”
