Lisa McDonald and her sister decided to surprise their dying mom with a visit from her favorite deer, Bambi.

Their mom, who’s been in palliative care for quite some time, loves deers amongst all animals, wears Bambi T-shirts, and collects Bambi statues. The sisters decided to cheer up their mom by surprising her with a real-life Bambi.

McDonald documented her mom’s reaction when the fawn walked into her room in the care home and posted the photos and video on The Kindness Pandemic group on Facebook.

The group found the moment very emotional. One commenter wrote,

“Brought me to tears. What a special and touching moment. Absolutely beautiful people to drive all that way for your mum to experience something so magical before she passes.”

“This is so beautiful. She would have absolutely loved this so much. You can see it in her eyes how much joy it brought to her. Bless them, and bless you and your beautiful Mum,” said another commenter.

After coming up with the idea, McDonald, along with her sister, found Chris and Simone, a couple nearby who owned a mobile petting zoo close to their Melbourne home.

The sisters contacted the couple to ask whether they could bring their deer fawn named Bambi to the care home.

Lisa is beyond grateful for what the couple has done for her and their family.

“Mum deteriorated quickly today and Simone and Chris didn’t hesitate… they drove two and a half hours to bring Bambi to meet mum,” Lisa told Daily Mail. “Out of pure love and kindness.”
