Pets offer amazing emotional support — not just for people, but also for their fellow pets!

They simply are the perfect companion for anyone suffering from mental health issues.

Horlicks the golden retriever has been struggling with anxiety whenever he’s left home alone. So his owner decided to look for ways to help him. Help soon came in the form of a fluffy hero.

Horlicks’ owner decided to give him a sibling for his birthday gift, thinking that it would help him overcome his separation anxiety.

It was then that he met Hero the kitten.

Horlick’s owner made sure not to overwhelm the two of them and keep their initial encounter short.

Later that same day, Hero started exploring the house and getting to know his new sibling.

Hero was initially unsure about the much bigger Horlicks, but their friendship quickly blossomed.

When Horlicks got to greet Hero, the kitten realized that the golden retriever is a gentle giant.

“That’s when their relationship really picked up,” their owner shared.

The pair have since become inseparable. They pretty much do everything together!

They also love spending time with their human, such as going out on walks.

Now, Hero is learning to play fetch with his big brother. Horlicks also loves “letting my little brother attack my tail as I playfully swat him back.”

After seeing how great they got along, their owner decided to test how Horlicks can manage being left at home with Hero.

She started by leaving them alone for only 30 minutes.

When she returned, she saw a huge improvement! Now, the once-anxious Horlicks can stay relaxed whenever his human needed to go out.

She shared, “Hero is a very secure cat. They tend to influence each other. So I think Horlicks has now improved in terms of the separation anxiety.”

“You can see that they love each other,” she added. “They have that strong feeling for each other.”
