The American Humane Hero Dog Awards, now in its 15th year, honors dogs who make extraordinary impacts in their communities. Five special finalists were announced, each showcasing incredible skills and dedication to their handlers and those around them.

The competition includes categories such as Law Enforcement, Service and Guide or Hearing, Therapy, Military, and Emerging Hero and Shelter Dogs, highlighting the unique talents and courage of each nominee.

This year’s finalists include K-9 Ultra, a military dog renowned for his stamina and skill in explosives detection in New York; Police Dog Harrison, a Labrador retriever with a knack for finding hidden evidence in North Carolina; Therapy Dog Sergeant Bo, whose comforting presence helped children in Nashville; Service Dog Donald, a life-changing guide for his handler in Florida; and Lieutenant Dan, an emerging hero who brings happiness while walking on his two front legs in Ohio.

America’s love for these courageous canines will soon be celebrated when the winner is revealed on November 7 on the 3rd Hour of TODAY. Each finalist will be recognized at the Hero Dog Awards Gala in Palm Beach, offering a heartwarming spotlight on their incredible contributions.
