Mermaid Cat and Dad Shines beautiful light on Special Needs Pets

• Sally the cat is papraplegic and is paralyzed from the neck down.
• Her dad decided to dress her up with a mermaid tail to show the world that she’s still beautiful.
• Their heartwarming bond shows everyone that special needs pets can still give so much love.

A special needs cat and her dad are showing the world just how beautiful their bond can be. Janez Jeretič and Sally the mermaid cat are now inspiring thousands of pet parents and aspiring adopters.

Sally is paraplegic and is paralyzed from the neck down. Janez said, “I decided to put her in a mermaid tail because to me she was always like a little mermaid. She couldn’t move her back legs but she looks so graceful and beautiful.”

Janez hopes to shed a beautiful light on special needs pets to help give them a chance.

“I wanted to show that having a special needs pet can be a very magical and positive thing,” he said.

The mermaid tail became a way to show the world that Sally is still a happy and curious cat.

Janez spotted a motionless Sally in a park about eight years ago. When he saw her move her front paws, he rushed her to the vet and discovered that she was struck by a bullet.

She was paralyzed from the neck down. Janez decided to care for her even though he knew it would be a rough start.

Slowly, she got used to the new way of moving her body. The pair learned together, developing patience and a closer bond.

Janez shared, “It’s really enlightening to take care of something else in your life other than you.”

Janez advises anyone who wishes to adopt a special needs pet: “I would tell them just take your time. Get to see what works for you and your pet. It’s OK if you don’t know everything in the beginning, it’s always going to be a process.”
