According to experts, a song’s name soars in popularity when it matches current trends and is featured by a major star like Swift.

“Taylor Swift is absolutely a baby name influencer,” says Sophie Kihm, editor-in-chief of Nameberry.com.

Classic hits like ‘Love Story’ helped the names Romeo and Juliet find new favor, while the song ‘Willow’ also boosted that name’s use among babies.

Names like Tim, Corey, Stephen, and Aimee—mentioned in Swift’s lesser-known tracks—haven’t experienced the same trend surge.

“These names are in line with the generation of today’s moms and dads, which modern namers tend to avoid,” says Kihm.

Names such as Emma, James, Leo, and Stella remain popular, but don’t gain extra momentum from pop culture references due to already peaking in popularity.

Songs like “Fifteen,” “Archer,” and “August” have introduced names that are now favorites among new parents.

Kihm points out, “August was going to be a popular boy name regardless of Swift’s influence, but it finally broke into the Top 100 in 2024 after being featured in the ‘Eras Tour.’”

Names like Betty have rapidly gained fans since appearing in Taylor Swift’s albums. “Betty is extremely close to breaking into the Top 1,000. I wouldn’t be surprised to see it there when the 2025 data is released,” shares Kihm.

The trend includes a wide variety of names, from Abigail and Archer to Willow and Evermore, reflecting the themes and characters in her music.

“Evermore joined the baby name charts in 2020, the year her album of the same name was released,” says Kihm.

From subtle references to direct mentions, Taylor Swift’s creative influence continues to inspire positivity and fresh choices for families welcoming new arrivals.
