  • Mark Waters owns a thrift shop and many of their customers try out the musical instruments on display for sale.
  • But he has never seen one so talented that he was moved to giving an item away for free.
  • Then John came in and it was a pure joy to watch as he played the piano which made Mark decide to give it to him for free.

Mark Waters is not doing business just to give away things for free, more so to strangers. But if he does so, it must be driven by pure joy that is way more valuable than money.

Mark owns ReMARKable Cleanouts — it is a thrift store located in Norwood, Massachusetts. They offer a variety of items from home furniture to music instruments. A lot of their customers enjoy trying out the instruments but he has never seen such a talented stranger who played the piano and left him and the other customers in awe!

The stranger walked in on a weekend and asked if he could try the piano. When Mark said yes, he never expected a splendid performance that was about to unfold.

“He started playing and the place lit up!” the store owner said.

Even the other shoppers were captivated by his “Don’t Stop Believin’” cover.

But he left right away before Mark could even get his name. So he asked for the public’s help to find the “piano man.” CBS Boston featured the awesome moment and pleaded for people to help locating the stranger.

A day later, the “piano man” was found! His name is John Capron, 23-year-old, living in Mattapan — and Mark happily gave him the Steinway piano!

As it turned out, John had read the story and thought at first he was in trouble. But the truth was, Mark intended to gift him the instrument.

“I’m so happy I saw this,” he said. “It’s made my day brighter. As long as people still feel the joy out of my music I’m happy.”

As for Mark, just how John has made others smile through his talent and leave happiness in their hearts, it’s more than any money he could possibly get as payment for the item.

“If you can make somebody else happy, bring a little joy in their heart — that’s what life’s about, brother. Peace be with you,” he explained.

John’s talent and Mark’s kindness, what an awesome combination to light up this world full of struggles! Good job to you both!
