In a remarkable show of courage, 12-year-old Romir Parker from Petersburg, Virginia, became a hero overnight.

A fast-moving blaze engulfed his family home, but Parker’s quick thinking saved the lives of his younger siblings and grandmother.

The incident occurred in early June when Parker heard an unusual noise and discovered a wall of black smoke filling the house.

His younger siblings, just 1 and 2 years old, were asleep on the couch, completely unaware of the danger looming.

“I go downstairs, it’s just black smoke all throughout the house,” Parker recounted.

Without hesitation, he scooped up both children, one in each arm, and dashed outside to safety.

But Parker’s bravery didn’t stop there.

Realizing his grandmother was still inside, he rushed back into the smoke-filled home to guide her out.

The fire department arrived just four minutes after receiving the call, but it was Parker’s actions that truly saved the day.

Petersburg Fire Chief Wayne Hoover was unequivocal about Parker’s heroism, stating that the young man saved his family’s life.

In recognition of his courage, the City of Petersburg presented Parker with a special proclamation.

It commended him for “demonstrating a level of bravery and presence of mind, well beyond his years.”

Chief Hoover also made Parker an honorary firefighter and offered him a future role.

“When Parker turns 18, he’s got a job with the fire brigade if he needs one,” Hoover affirmed.
