During the live show, Tyler Cameron and his professional partner Sharna Burgess performed a touching contemporary routine to Ed Sheeran’s “Supermarket Flowers.” The dance was dedicated to moms everywhere, and that’s when Tyler and his fiancée Tate Madden discovered the sex of their first baby.

“I get to be a girl dad. What a gift, what an opportunity,” Tyler said.

The joyful couple told People they are thrilled to welcome their daughter into the world. They learned about the pregnancy right after their engagement and chose to keep the news private until the perfect moment on the show.

“The night we got back from getting engaged, I took the test,” Tate told People. After seeing the positive result, she went to Cameron and said, “You’re not going to believe this.”

“It’s going to change everything in our lives,” Tyler said. “Our parents gave us a great life, and I want us to give this little baby an even greater life. Everything that we learn from our families [I want to] take the best of it and instill it into our kids.”

Tyler explained why he wanted to honor mothers during the performance. “I want to dedicate it [to mothers] because they’re so important. Everyone needs their mom. Moms are what make this world go around,” he said. “I lost my mom, and my mom would have loved Tate. All the best things in my mom, I found in Tate.”

“We thought it would be a really amazing way to reveal the baby and celebrate the baby,” Tyler added.
