  • Bryson Kliemann, eight years old, is a diehard Pokémon fan who collects lots of animé cards.
  • But when he knew that Bruce, his puppy best friend, was sick and his family couldn’t afford the treatment, he decided to sell all of his precious cards!
  • His mom was touched by his sacrifice and launched a GoFundMe for him, raising more than enough money for the puppy’s treatment.

There’s nothing this boy wouldn’t give up to save his furry best friend.

One day, while fixing his playing cards, Bryson noticed that his dog, Bruce, was badly sick.

“He wasn’t coming out of his cage and being the normal puppy he usually is,” Bryson’s mother, Kimberly Woodruff, said. “He was very lethargic, just not doing good.”

The next thing they knew, Bruce had parvo, a highly contagious dog virus, according to the vet.

Treatment would cost them almost $700, something the family couldn’t afford.

Bryson was aware of his parents’ financial situation, which would be impossible for them to pay for the treatment. But the little boy also knew that he wouldn’t let anything take Bruce away from him, definitely not this disease.

“It made me kind of sad because usually my brother and sister play together and I don’t have anybody to play with. So, I usually play with him,” Bryson said.

The next thing that happened took his mother by surprise — Bryson decided to give up one of his most prized possessions to save his puppy: his Pokémon cards.

“While I’m in school, I get a text message with a picture of him and a sign on the side of the road selling Pokémon cards,” Kimberly said.

Bryson took the matter into his own hands and decided to sacrifice his play cards, for his puppy’s sake.

“I know everybody likes Pokémon cards so I just decided to sell them,” Bryson said.

Moved, his mom shared the picture online to help spread the word and later made a GoFundMe campaign to raise $800.

His Mom wrote: “I know I have been raising him right. With a heart of gold because he’s so worried about our Bruce he is beside the road trying to sell his favorite thing in the world just to make his puppy better.

To the family’s surprise, donations reached $1,900 in no time… and donations keep coming in.

After a week of treatment, the little pup went back home with Bryson. He’s still undergoing treatment and continues to recover. The donations will help pay for the Bruce’s future vaccinations, as well as for other sick dogs in the community.

“I was so happy because I really wanted to get him back,” Bryson said.
