A young boy in Florida dialed 911, not because of an emergency, but because he wanted to give an officer a hug. Deputy Scott Pracht of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office responded to the call, and the heartening moment was captured on his bodycam and the home’s doorbell camera.

In the video, Pracht speaks to the boy’s mother, who explains that her son doesn’t know what 911 is and has a disconnected cellphone. Nonetheless, even disconnected phones can call emergency services. The boy comes to the door with his phone and admits he called the police to give them a hug. As his mother checks the call log, the boy runs out to hug Pracht, who happily embraces him back.

After the hug, Pracht teaches the boy about the importance of calling 911 only in emergencies, emphasizing the need for caution when using the number. The boy apologizes, and Pracht reassures him not to worry.

The sheriff’s office shared the video on Facebook, where it quickly gained nearly 10,000 views and plenty of positive comments.
