A TikTok video by user @baileysbarn showcases why Gunner avoids walking through a gate directly, instead veering to the left to step on the flower bed.

This peculiar behavior stems from a single incident: Gunner “stepped in a puddle 572 days ago,” and he hasn’t forgotten it.

The loyal guardian dog prefers this new route to avoid the chance of wet paws.

His owner humorously noted that Gunner will “take on a coyote” without hesitation “but won’t step in a puddle.”

Anatolian shepherd dogs are known for their protective nature and intelligence, traits that make them excellent working dogs. According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), their imposing stature—up to 29 inches tall and weighing as much as 150 pounds—makes them formidable protectors.

The AKC explains that these dogs are responsive and adaptable, always ready to protect their family, livestock, or pack with unwavering devotion.

Although they require only moderate exercise, early socialization is crucial to prevent wariness towards strangers.
