David Justice Reflects on Growth After Divorce

David Justice recently spoke candidly about the challenges he faced during his marriage to Halle Berry, revealing that his understanding of relationships has grown with time.

He admitted, “My knowledge and my understanding, my wisdom around relationships just wasn’t vast.”

Justice recalled early doubts and traditional expectations, mentioning he questioned if the partnership was best for starting a family.

“Then I’m thinking, ‘OK, if we have kids, is this the woman I want to have kids with and build a family with?’” he shared.

Berry proposed only months after they started dating, and Justice shared, “I said OK, but I don’t know if my heart was really into it.”

The pair ultimately spent too much time apart as Berry’s film career blossomed, finalizing their divorce in 1997.

“She was doing movies in this country, that country. And we honestly probably could have made it if I knew about therapy,” Justice reflected.

Justice found happiness later with his wife Rebecca Villalobos, with whom he shares three children.

Berry, who has two children, is in a joyful relationship with musician Van Hunt, saying, “I always saw myself in a committed, loving relationship with like my best friend, someone that I respect and I love.”

Rather than feeling rushed, Berry explained, “Well, I’ve been married three times. Van has been married once, and so no, we don’t feel like we have to get married to validate our love in any way.”

She happily added, “But I think we will get married just because, out of the people I’ve been married to, this is the person I should have married.”
