  • He acted quickly by smashing windows to free her

A dramatic rescue in Harrison County, Tennessee, is inspiring countless people after a video of the scene made waves on social media. EPB employee Troy Plemons, age 22, credits both timing and faith for putting him in the right place when it mattered most.

“I think God put me there,”

Plemons said, reflecting on the incredible event.

While on his way between job sites, Plemons happened to stop for supplies, which led him to the intersection where a woman’s vehicle was filling with floodwater and sinking fast. Initial attempts with a rope failed, so he jumped into action, breaking two windows and pulling the woman out just before the car sank completely.

The woman recovered in Plemons’ work truck while he and others helped additional stranded drivers. Shaken but safe, she was later reunited with her husband, and her son personally thanked Plemons for his lifesaving efforts.

Plemons shared that in the midst of the rescue, there wasn’t much conversation, but he knew she was grateful.
