A twelve-year-old girl in Richmond Hill is being cheered for her bravery after rescuing her two brothers from a house fire.

Macy had just stepped off her school bus when she saw smoke and rushed toward the front door.

“You can see the moment where she realized that her house was burning,” her mother, Lisa Johnson, recalled.

“She ran to the front door and just screamed into the house, ‘Get out. The house is on fire!’”

Inside the home, her brothers were completely unaware of the danger.

A fourteen-year-old was napping above the garage while his older brother was in the shower preparing for work.

“My 14-year-old… was sleeping. He had no idea,” Johnson said.

Firefighters arrived quickly to contain the blaze, preventing the total destruction of the family’s new two-story home.

Though the family faces a difficult rebuilding process, Macy’s fast intervention ensured everyone made it out safely.
