  • Eight years is a really long time to not give up hope for Julia Nemeth to find her dog Junior.
  • Finding his photo in the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) after 8 years is a miracle.
  • Reuniting with Junior seems unreal but Junior is finally home.

Junior the dog took a long time to reach home, but he did, and his mom Julia Nemeth can’t believe that it is real.  Eight years of searching and hoping finally paid off.

Their strong bond was forged when the pit bull/terrier mix was still a puppy.  Julia even taught Junior hand signals for them to be in touch when her children were sleeping.

Junior and Julia got separated when Junior was taken during a home invasion in 2012.  For eight years, Julia searched high and low for her beloved best friend. She went and poured over shelter photos and lost-and-found online pet groups, only to be disappointed.  Junior was nowhere to be found.

But the Humane Society of Summit County (HSSC) posted a newly-surrendered dog named “Buddy”.  Julia saw the photo on the HSSC’s website and immediately contacted the shelter.

As per the HSSC, “Buddy” was relatively healthy except for tapeworms that they had to treat when he arrived. He was adopted by three families but it never really panned out and he got sent back to the shelter.

When Julia described Buddy’s personality, it fitted “Buddy’s”! Junior and Buddy are one and the same dog!

To confirm, Julia brought her family to meet Junior.  The dog still felt comfortable with the family and it was time to bring him home.

Julia can only say, “I can’t believe Junior is home. He carried me through the challenges of my life and to have him back means everything to me.”

As for Junior, it’s back to snuggling with family on the couch, playing catch in the backyard with his brother, and chewing his toys.

What a long journey it has been.  But Junior is finally home.
