The 98th Academy Awards sparkled with excitement on March 15, 2026, live on ABC and Hulu from 7 p.m. ET.

Sinners led nominations with 16 nods including Best Picture, followed by One Battle After Another with 13.

Conan O’Brien opened with uproarious energy, starring in a fun skit spoofing films like Weapons, F1, and Hamnet.

Amy Madigan became the night’s first winner for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in Weapons.

Zoe Saldaña presented the award to the thrilled 75-year-old star.

“This is great,” she laughed. “Everybody’s asking me in the press and all this, ‘Well, it’s been 40 years. What’s different about this time?’ What’s different is I got this little gold guy!”

“Most important is my beloved, Ed (Harris), who’s been with me forever,” she added. “And that’s a long ass time. None of this wouldn’t mean anything if he wasn’t by my side.”

Its soundtrack earned Grammy success too, with a sequel on the way.

Will Arnett and Channing Tatum presented Best Animated Short to The Girl Who Cried Pearls.

Co-directors Chris Lavis and Maciek Szczerbowski celebrated their five-year puppet masterpiece.

“People think it takes patience to take five years to make a puppet film. It actually takes patience to live with someone who takes five years to make a puppet film,” Lavis shared warmly before thanking his family.
