  • Army Sergeant Webb could not imagine leaving behind her adopted pup after ending her tour of duty.
  • She enlisted the help of Paws of War to bring the PupPup to the USA.
  • Finally, after 4 cancelled flights, PupPup had a sweet reunion with her mom.

After forming a bond with a puppy on her overseas tour, Army Sergeant Webb worked hard to bring the pup back home to the US with her.

Serving overseas can be lonely and a companion could ease the pressure on the battlefield. Army Sergeant Webb knows this as she adopted a stray dog who she named PupPup.

After her tour was over, she did not want to leave the small black and brown canine behind and so she wrote to the Paws of War for help.

Webb said, “This spot can be very harsh to dogs and I fear she will die if she is left behind. Plus, we have formed such a strong bond that means everything to me. I can’t turn my back on her and would be forever grateful for the help to get her home.”

Paws of War is a non-profit that assists active military personnel in bringing their rescued animals to the United States.

Fortunately, the organization immediately acted on PupPup’s case as they had a short window to work on the case. “We got on the ground while [Webb] was still serving,” said the cofounder of Paws of War, Robert Misseri.

And so, the process began for PupPup.  She was checked and vaccinated by a veterinarian and quarantined in a foster home, before she got the go signal to travel.  Even with 4 flight cancellations, she was finally on her way home to her mom.

Misseri said that Webb could not believe that PupPup was finally on US soil. “She has called me every day since and texted me that she still can’t believe that PupPup is with her. She said that it would have weighed very heavy on her heart if she’d had to leave PupPup there,” relayed Misseri.

And the bond that started on unstable soil is now on firmer ground for PupPup and Army Sergeant Webb.
