Michael Harris was skiing at Stevens Pass when an avalanche buried him, but he stayed upright, preserving precious time.

His wife Penny, sensing trouble, used the Find My iPhone app to pinpoint his unmoving location and alerted resort staff, guiding rescuers straight to him.

“So, my wife was calling me, and when I was buried, I heard something. I felt someone calling me, because I felt it vibrate, I could hear it ring, yet my hand couldn’t get to it,” Harris shared.

Rescuers freed him after hours under snow; he arrived hypothermic with treatable injuries including a lung contusion, pneumonia, kidney damage, and a tibial fracture.

His daughter Lauren calls it a miracle, noting a 14-16 week recovery ahead as their GoFundMe nears its goal.

“It is a true miracle that he survived and didn’t sustain life altering or life threatening injuries,” Lauren said. “I have been thanking God since the incident that he is still here with us.”

“I was inches away from the thing that could save my life, but I just couldn’t get there. And yet because she knew how to use ‘Find My iPhone,’ I’m here today,” Harris added gratefully.
