Quick Smiles:

  • Shaq earned $9 million for Kazaam, joking he paid himself.
  • He pocketed $6 million from Blue Chips and $3 million from Blended.
  • Fans still call Kazaam their favorite movie.

Shaquille O’Neal shared laughs on the premiere of Craig Melvin’s “Glass Half Full” podcast, poking fun at his Razzie-nominated acting roles while celebrating big paychecks from films like “Kazaam,” “Blue Chips,” and “Blended.”

Despite the humorous nods to his three Golden Raspberry nominations, Shaq embraced his self-deprecating style, delighting fans with stories of his cinematic adventures.

“You’ve always been deprecating. You don’t take yourself too seriously, which would explain your acting career,” Craig Melvin told the basketball legend.

“I would say, I would give them my Bank of America account information,” O’Neal quipped about Razzie nominators.

“‘Blended,’ thank you, Adam Sandler. Three million,” he added gratefully.

“‘Blue Steel’ was about six million. And ‘Kazaam’ was about nine (million),” he shared.

“They paid you nine million for ‘Kazaam’?” an astonished Craig asked.

“I paid myself,” O’Neal replied with a grin.

“First of all, you shouldn’t even be watching. This movie is for kids,” he teased.

“I don’t care what you say. Every now and then, a person will walk by and say, ‘“Kazaam” was my favorite movie.’ That’s all I know,” Shaq affirmed proudly.

Revealing his driven mindset, O’Neal surprised host Craig by calling himself glass half empty.

“Half empty,” O’Neal said. “Because there’s always work to do.”

“Continue to inspire people, continue to learn about myself and continue to do excellent business,” he added optimistically.
