Copper the beagle recently had an unforgettable day at Rosie’s Dog Beach in California.
This special beach allows dogs to run and swim freely, but it took Copper some time to muster the courage to venture into the ocean.
Finally, the big moment came, and Copper’s brave plunge was captured on camera.
In the video, Copper is seen standing on the sand, gazing at the other dogs and humans enjoying the water.
He then cautiously steps into the waves.
His initial hesitation quickly fades as he leaps over a wave and starts swimming.
At this point, his owners’ pride swiftly turns to concern.
They drop everything and rush toward him, worried that he might swim too far out.
The text overlay on the video reads:
“The moment Copper finally was brave enough to go into the ocean. & we freaked out.”
The caption on the video adds:
“We thought he was going to swim away.”
This clip, shared on Copper’s TikTok account @iamcopperbeagle, has garnered over 31,000 likes and 260,000 views.
Many TikTok users shared the owners’ initial panic.
One user commented:
“Aww he likes the water…wait! Don’t like the water that much!”
Another user humorously noted:
“How did he go from ‘I don’t think I like this’ to full sending it.”
A third user observed that Copper “was so proud” of his accomplishment.
One particularly moved viewer posted:
“I’m sobbing, this is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.”
Despite beagles not being known as a water-loving breed, Copper’s adventure shows that any dog can learn to enjoy the water with time and patience.
According to Purina, owners should start by bringing their dog into shallow water, allowing them to splash around and get comfortable.
Once the dog seems at ease, owners can gradually go deeper, always staying close by.
If the dog appears scared or anxious, it’s best to return to shore and try again later.
