  • Bindi Irwin is doing so much better and staying close to home in Australia
  • The third annual Steve Irwin Gala raised vital funds for wildlife conservation
  • Family remains united in spirit, continuing Steve’s inspiring legacy of hope

The third annual Steve Irwin Gala took place in Las Vegas on May 2, 2026. Stars and animal lovers gathered to raise money to continue honoring Steve Irwin’s conservation legacy.

Robert’s Dancing with the Stars partner, Witney Carson, attended along with Jordan Chiles and Danielle Fishel. Noticeably absent was Terri and Steve’s daughter, Bindi Irwin.

Terri Irwin and Robert Irwin shared an encouraging update on Bindi with E! News.

“Bindi is doing so much better now,” Terri said. “So, things like a lot of travel are a bit challenging for her at the moment, and so she’ll be here next year to celebrate this wonderful night.”

The mom added that Australia is where she needs to be right now.

“This year she’s just staying a little close to home. So, ironically, it’s less taxing for her to be home feeding crocodiles,” Terri said.

Robert Irwin echoed his mom’s thoughts and let his big sister know he missed her.

“She’s with us in spirit, for sure,” Robert added.

He also spoke of how important the night is in continuing his father’s mission.

“Dad’s legacy’s never been more important because we all know there are big issues that face the planet,” Robert said. “Environmentally, we’ve kind of got a bit of an uphill battle right now in our generation. But it’s important not to lose sight of hope. There’s always hope if we can work together.”

The day after the gala, Robert Irwin posted photos of himself and Terri Irwin along with a heartfelt message to those who made the event a success.

“Last night’s Steve Irwin Gala was a huge success raising vital funds and awareness for the charity my Mum and Dad started. It was a room full of friends and family gathering together to celebrate the life and legacy of my Dad. His passion, and message lives on. Thank you to everyone who joined us last night to support,” Robert wrote.

The Irwin family continues to inspire millions around the world with their dedication to wildlife conservation and their unwavering positivity in the face of challenges. Bindi’s recovery journey reminds us all that healing takes time, and sometimes the best medicine is being surrounded by the animals and places we love most.
