A clever pup managed to find her way home after getting lost by hopping on a bus.

Pepper, a two-year-old collie, was taking an off-leash walk on the park with her owner’s mom, Julie Jones, when she got lost after chasing some geese.

Her owner, Charlotte Jones, shared, “Her natural instinct is to go and herd them and chase, so she’s bolted. Pepper then lost sight of where she was going and then must have ran straight into town.”

She and Saffron Caps, Pepper’s parents, looked for her and started appealing online.

It turns out that Pepper walked nearly three miles to the bus station and hopped on the No.7 Arriva service.

Luckily, a passenger recognized her, took a picture of her, and contacted her owners. The lady informed the driver that she had contacted the pup’s owners, so she could remain on the bus.

Pepper stayed on the bus for the 15-minute trip before getting off at her stop.

Charlotte said that they all regularly make the bus trip together, which may be how Pepper knew which station to go to, which bus to board, and where to get off.

“She knew when to get up when the bell rang,” Charlotte added. “We have done that bus ride for so long, the doors opened and she jumped off.”

Charlotte is so proud that Pepper found her own way home, and compared her to Lassie.

Pepper’s parents also expressed their gratitude to the kind lady who looked after the pup and calmed their nerves.
