  • Kayley Stead’s groom stood her up on their wedding day.
  • Instead of canceling everything during the wedding, she opted to continue with the reception where she had a party with her friends and family who stayed with her.
  • All her other expenses would be refunded through a GoFundMe that was set-up by her friends.

Kayley Stead is one of a kind.  What she did on her wedding day is not something that most people can do.

Kayley’s groom was a no-show at their wedding.  Kayley did not expect that her partner of four years, Kallum Norton, would just cop out.  But he did.

At their parties the night before, the groom left and told his groomsmen that he would not be returning.  He did not have the courage to tell Kayley.  It was the groomsmen who informed the bridesmaids who did not immediately tell Kayley hoping that the groom would still change his mind.

Then it was the groom’s mother who tearfully informed Kayley that indeed, his son had left. Kayley was in disbelief. It was only after the groom’s father talked with her that there would be no groom and a wedding that day that it finally dawned on Kayley that her dream wedding was not happening. That is when she broke down in tears.

The videographer’s joke to carry on with the reception jolted her to reality.  She said, “That’s when I was like, ‘I’m going to do it.’ I’d spent all this money, I’d been looking forward to the food, a dance with my dad, spending time with my family, so why not?”

With her bridesmaids at her side, she fixed her makeup, dusted off her dress and with her arm tucked in her father’s she bravely faced her guests. She walked into a room filled with her family, friends, groomsmen, and bridesmaids who applauded and cheered her on.

Even if it was heartbreaking to go on with the events, she showed the world that she can turn it around.  And so, she danced, posed for photos, ate, and even said her thanks to everyone who stayed with her.  Kayley said, “I didn’t want to remember the day as complete sadness.”

And the wedding cake? She pounced its top tier with just her bare hands.  A little show of anger is understandable, right?

It is also good to know that her life’s savings that went into the wedding’s expenses is being repaid by her friends who set up a GoFundMe for it.

We have nothing but admiration for you, Kayley! You go, girl!
