Nicole Kopsidas told Insider about how her younger brother walked her down the aisle in place of their quadriplegic father at her wedding last July. She claims the emotional moment was especially meaningful for her and her family.

“There wasn’t a dry eye in the house. It was really special, and my dad was really happy that we did it that way because he got to see everyone in the room,” explained Kopsidas, 26.

Her father was afflicted with multiple sclerosis when she was two years old. According to the National MS Society, the disease affects the brain and spinal cord, causing symptoms ranging from numbness and memory issues to blindness or paralysis.

Kopsidas said her father’s condition deteriorated as she grew older. He has been a quadriplegic for the past seven years, and his parents and children have been caring for him, according to Insider.

Kopsidas told the outlet that her parents divorced before her dad got sick, but that they all help out weekly to ensure he is well taken care of.

After recently being engaged, Kopsidas began to consider how her wheelchair-bound father would be able to accompany her down the aisle at her wedding.

According to Insider, he was the one who advised watching his daughter go down the aisle rather than doing it himself.

Kopsidas appealed to her younger brother, hoping that he would take their father’s place at her wedding to make her father as comfortable as possible.

Kopsidas told Insider that her brother has always been the family’s baby, but he was honored and happy, despite being a little sorry that their father couldn’t walk her sister.

Kopsidas told Insider that she and her father shared a “first look” before the ceremony. Her photographer captured the emotional scene, which included the bride crying as she hugged her father.

Then Kopsidas had to make her grand entrance at the wedding. The touching moment where the bride was escorted down the aisle by her brother was recorded by their mom.

When they reached the altar, Kopsidas stooped down and kissed her father who was waiting for her.

The video now has over 14.4 million views on TikTok.

Kopsidas expressed gratitude to her father for being able to attend her momentous day.

“I’m his oldest, and we didn’t know whether he was going to be able to make it to my wedding day, so we both cried a lot,” she said.
