Cat Caught On Camera Stealing Christmas Tree Decorations While Owner Sleeps [Video]
- A TikTok video of a cat stealing the decorations on the Christmas tree has gone viral with 6.6 million views.
- The cat, Walter, gets the decorations and brings them to his own Christmas tree upstairs, explained the owner.
- One commenter defended Walter by saying he did not steal the decorations but redecorated them.
Christmas trees are very attractive to cats. For one, its branches are good for napping and its trunk is also okay for scratching. Most of all, the bright and sparkly decorations, tinsels and glitters are very tempting to swipe at and play with. It is no wonder cats cannot leave Christmas trees alone.

And a cat is the newest addition to the Christmas characters like the Grinch and Scrooge.
In the video shared on TikTok under Angelwingswalter, Walter the cat was caught red-pawed stealing several Christmas decorations from their family tree. He cannot deny anything as there’s a video for evidence!
The video’s caption: “Walter moving all the Christmas stuff upstairs while I sleep” has made the 6.6 million viewers LOL more. And so far, it got 1.3 million likes!
His owner later explained that Walter hauls his loot upstairs to where he has his own tree.
And the comments section is all abuzz with the adorable thief’s antics.
TikToker Tor wrote: “How Walter the cat stole Christmas,” but was quickly corrected by Colleen who wrote, “He’s not [stolen] it… he’s just relocating Christmas.”
It seems that TikTok user Amy understood the cat as she wrote: “Walter is very serious about Christmas,” and user8212193783473 agreed: “He wants to decorate upstairs too.”
Biscuit quipped, “Walter’s planning a party of his own,” while @billythecrosseyedcat said that “he was on a mission.”
Others are amazed at Walter’s ability. Spaghetti commented: “I can’t believe you caught the grinch on camera.” And Aseel jokes: “He’s stealing Christmas like the Grinch.”
On the other hand, NajlasBody wrote: “I’m not sure if Walter is ok with Christmas or not.”
Walter certainly caught everybody’s attention-getting Christmas shenanigans. But animal charity Blue Cross suggests cat-proofing your trees by securing them to avoid getting knocked off. Also opt for a non-drop variety of Christmas trees as the oils of real ones are mildly toxic to cats leading to mouth and stomach irritation.
Ingesting pine needles can also cause damage to their stomachs and fertilizers are toxic.
Lastly, secure decorations, or else you’ll have a Walter the Grinch who stole Christmas.
