Cat has strange obsession with freshness seals from milk cartons

Like many siblings, cat brothers Ollie and Zero resemble each other but differ in personalities. Their mom, Callie Samuels, describes Zero as “the troublemaker,” while Ollie is “more of the angelic child.”

While Zero is “very vocal” and always likes to play and get into trouble, Ollie simply “sits back and watches with an innocent look on his face.”

Still, Callie believes that the pair are “working in shifts to make sure my day is as chaotic as possible.”

Ollie usually has a much calmer demeanor, except when it comes to his favorite thing: freshness seals from milk cartons.

Callie discovered Ollie’s strange obsession when she pulled a freshness seal off a new carton of milk and tossed it to Ollie. She thought that Ollie would just play with it for a while, but it ended up becoming his favorite toy.

Callie shared, “It was love at first sight.” Ollie would carry it with him everywhere and play with it all the time.

Ollie loved it so much that whenever he sees his mom bringing out the milk, he would run up and start meowing.

“I have to break the news to him that there won’t be a new freshness seal for him every single time,” Callie said.

Ollie loves getting new freshness seals. But he still loves all of his old ones and never parts with them.

He would even store his collection in the most random places.

Callie has since spotted freshness seals all around the house.

“Under couch cushions, on the bed, in my shoes, you name it,” she shared. “It’s like he’s keeping them stored around the house in case he’s ever in the mood to play with one at any given moment.”

Zero, meanwhile, has no idea why Ollie likes freshness seals so much. So, he just sits back and watches his brother while he plays with it.

But if Ollie catches Zero looking at him, “he will growl and pick the freshness seal up in his mouth to guard it.”

He has a veritable collection of them already, but he’s still quite protective of his favorite toy!

It’s a strange thing to be counted as a toy, but Ollie loves them more than any regular toy.
