  • A viral TikTok video of a cat looking depressed and about to cry has the viewers worried and about to cry, too.
  • When Biscuit’s owners posted the video, they also asked the viewers for help on what to do.
  • Commenters quickly suggested giving Biscuit lots of cuddles while another suggested having him checked.

As pet owners, when we see our fur babies looking dejected and preferring to be alone, we worry.  There are a lot of things going through our minds on what could be the possible reasons for our pet’s behavior.

Just like cat owner @Thefluffymeows who posted a photo of Biscuit,  a Scottish Golden Chinchilla, looking out the window and appearing to be almost crying.  They captioned the post: “The second day our cat sits like this. He looks depressed and we don’t know how to help him. How can we help him?”

Biscuit and his sister Cookie have more than 47,000 followers on TikTok and the video has already garnered nearly 18 million views and 2.4 million likes.

Most of the comments sympathized with the depressed cat.  One TikToker, Its.me..lex wrote: “it’s like about to cry.” And tltnole added: “Oh poor thing. This makes me so sad. Please tell us he’s okay?!?”

Others offered suggestions on what to do like max_Y, who commented: “get him a girl.” While TikToker mommakitty_ said: “As a veterinary technician, I would recommend taking him to the vet ASAP. This is usually a health issue.”

Just like humans, cats are emotional and can get stressed or depressed, according to Pet WebMD.  The signs are not obvious but a Texas-based integrative veterinary expert, Dr. Hunter Finn, offered some reasons for the condition: boredom, lack of enrichment, loss of a companion or caretaker, physical illness, among others.

Biscuit’s owner took him to a vet immediately and was told that he was “seriously ill.” But they never gave up hope and continued to look after the poor furbaby.

Then just before Christmas, TikTok viewers who were waiting for updates about Biscuit’s condition received some good news. Biscuit is getting better and starting to become playful again. His sister Cookie was so excited to play with him again.
