  • Black cat Piran’s 83-year-old mom had gone missing.
  • Searchers couldn’t find the elderly woman anywhere, until Piran meowed nonstop by a cornfield gate — where she was found in a 70-foot ravine.
  • The fur mom was rescued and sustained no major injuries. Her cat had saved the day!

Others may think that black cats bring bad luck, but Piran has proven otherwise — he just brought his owner some good luck.

Recently, Piran’s 83-year-old mom went missing. Their neighbors searched for her everywhere around Cornwall, England, but to no avail, until the ebony cat, agitated, continuously meowed loudly by a cornfield gate.

“The cat is very attached to her, and he was going back and forth in the gateway and meowing, so I decided to go and search the maize field,” searcher Tamar Longmuir told Sky News.

The crop was seven feet tall, which made the search more difficult, but Tamar persisted until she had reached the bottom of the field. Then, she finally heard a faint response.

Apparently, the elderly woman stumbled down a 70-foot ravine. Fortunately, she did not sustain any major injuries despite being stuck for several hours.

“Without the cat waiting at the gate to that field, it could have been hours later that I or anyone else would have checked in there,” Tamar said.

Tamar contacted emergency crews who soon arrived to rescue the stranded senior. It took rescue groups — police, fire department, and air and water rescue services — two hours to get the woman out and airlift her to a nearby hospital.

“Whilst the lady concerned is still currently receiving care, she is in good spirits and is being well looked after,” Bodmin Police said in a Facebook post. “Piran the cat saved the day!”

Indeed, the black cat has become a hero with his vocal intervention.
