Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary in Green Bay is extending a warm welcome to anyone in need as freezing temperatures sweep the Midwest.

Normally focused on helping cats with special needs, Safe Haven is now opening its doors to humans after hearing that local warming shelters were overflowing.

“We are a safe haven for everyone who needs a place. It’s getting cold out there. A cat will warm your heart and your lap, too. Come on in and warm up. All are welcome,” said Joe Becker, President of the Board of Directors.

Founder Elizabeth Feldhausen instructed staff to let anyone turned away from crowded shelters know they can find safety at Safe Haven.

A local pastor and her husband volunteered to supervise overnight guests, ensuring people had a secure spot inside during the dangerously frigid nights.

The shelter, always welcoming to walk-ins, provides comfy sofas and complimentary internet as long as everyone is kind—to each other and to the resident cats.

Even in the harshest winter weather, compassion shines through, providing hope and warmth to both people and pets.
