Cat Who Loves Food Sneaks to Take a Bite on Every Piece of Cookie Her Mom Secured in a Sealed Container

• When her mom, Allison baked cookies for her fellow volunteers and secured it in a sealed Tupperware container, Nellie still found a way to them.

Nellie the cat is such a foodie. And her parents have noticed that ever since she became part of the family. They thought she behaves more like a dog than a cat because of how she likes food so much. They even taught her some tricks using the treats she loves.

“She lives to eat instead of eating to live,” Nellie’s mom,  Allison Riebel, told The Dodo. “She loves her cat food and she loves her cat treats. We use her love of snacks to practice learning tricks. She’s become good at sit, high five and loves to play fetch.”

Oftentimes, she gets stuck in places she is not supposed to be in just because she was looking for food. Her parents would try to secure items and think that they are safe from her, but she still finds a way to get to them.

Allison is a veterinary student at the University of Illinois who volunteers at the Wildlife Medical Clinic. Recently, she baked cookies for her fellow volunteers and put some in a sealed Tupperware container thinking it was safe enough from Nellie. But she was wrong!

“Nellie somehow opened the container and took all the cookies out and onto the floor,” Allison recalled. “The funny thing is I know she took them all out separately because if she had just knocked them out of the container, the cookies would have broken. But they were spread out across our dining room floor with little bites out of each. So she took them all out separately and chopped them all separately and did it quietly enough to not get noticed.” 

But the kitty was not thoroughly careful. She knocked out something at some point which prompted Allison to check on her—and Nellie was caught in the act with the cookies scattered on the floor and she had taken a bite in every single one. She didn’t even look like she regrets it, a matter of fact, she looks very pleased!

“She did not seem guilty,” Allison said. “She plays it off very well. It’s both infuriating and hilarious. She’s very proud of herself.” 

It seems that Allison has to find a cat-proof container for their food very soon or else Nellie will always have it her way.
