Completely Paralyzed Toddler Starts Walking Again [Video]

- A two-year-old boy was completely paralyzed about two months ago when he contracted a rare inflammatory disease.
- But he fought on and after displaying intentional movement, he worked hard on physical therapy to fully regain control.
- Last week, he was able to take his first steps as his loved ones cheered him on!
Two-year-old Alaric Bridgeman has successfully taken his first steps on Thursday after he was paralyzed a few months ago.
Friends, family, and the staff of Akron Children’s Hospital in Ohio cheered the toddler on as he walked down the hallway of the hospital.
Akron Children’s Hospital shared the video capturing the moment in an Instagram post that read, “It was a very exciting day to send Alaric home and see all the incredible progress he has made!”
Alaric had suffered from transverse myelitis, a rare inflammatory disease that affects the spinal cord, at the start of December. He soon became completely paralyzed.
Eventually, with the help of the hospital staff, the toddler “finally displayed some intentional movement,” by Dec. 20. The “small but mighty” Alaric then worked hard during his twice-a-day physical therapy to regain his movement over the next months.
His dad Dustin also took long walks with him across the hospital, where they have befriended almost “everyone they passed,” said the hospital.
Their efforts finally came to fruition last week. The hospital made sure to celebrate the occasion by setting up a special “road” on the hallway floor and hanging flags. The finish line also had a banner that read “I did it!!”

A smiling Alaric took his first steps on his walker and crossed the finish line.
The mighty toddler fought a great battle and was able to push through, thanks to the large support system he was able to count on.
