  • State trooper Joshua Morris spends his free time helping the youth in his community.
  • The basketball fan also loves playing games, which is how he met his little “hype man,” 9-year-old Ra’kir Allen.
  • To show his appreciation, Joshua surprised the little man with a new pair of basketball shoes designed by basketball star Steph Curry.

Joshua Morris has dedicated himself to serving others beyond his regular duties as a state trooper for the Delaware State Police Department.

After finishing his master’s degree in education, he spends most of his time helping children in his Wilmington neighborhood through youth outreach and conflict resolution.

Also a basketball fan, he makes it a point to play games with the kids — and he always dazzles in court! It was during one of his basketball games that he formed a beautiful friendship with 9-year-old Ra’kir Allen.

Ra’kir soon became Joshua’s biggest fan! The little man immediately became his cameraman and commentator.

In one video, Ra’kir can be heard shouting, “That’s Curry! That’s Curry!” after Joshua made a perfect jump shot. He had compared the cop with Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry!

Ra’kir’s heartwarming support touched Joshua so much that the latter decided to give his little “hype man” a special gift. He gave him a brand new pair of basketball shoes — designed by none other than Steph Curry!

Ra’kir’s jaw dropped when he saw what his gift was! There was also $60 in cash tucked inside one shoe.

Joshua shared that the gift was a way of letting Ra’kir know just how much he mattered.

He said, “When he laces up those sneakers, he has somebody who believes in him. He has somebody who loves him. He has somebody that will be kind to him.”

What a beautiful friendship these two have! And it all started with a shared love for basketball.
