Couple Converted Front Yard Into Stop-over With Water and Treats For Neighbors’ Pets!

  • Andrew and Mary Beth were out for a walk with their two dogs when one of them needed a drink.
  • Since there was no water station nearby, they decided to build one themselves.
  • So they set up one in their front yard and opened it for everyone in their community to stop over and rest.

Andrew Leach and Mary Beth Ede from Tulsa, Oklahoma, surely knows how it feels when your dogs suddenly protest to go any further while on a walk because they go hungry or thirsty, because it happened to their pups several times.

Since they know how important it is to have a pit stop, they decided to create a small “doggie utopia” in their front yard!

The idea started one day when the couple went out for a walk with their two dogs and one of them, Bronson, got very thirsty but there was no water station nearby!

Andrew thought it would be perfect to set up a small water station in their front yard, accompanied with some treats. It is open for all their neighbors in the community who have dogs that need a stop-over during some walks.

The result was awesome — the whole community adores it and Andrew absolutely loves doing it!

“We are refilling the water every day, replacing the treats,” he explained. “We will come up with little slogans, ‘Tasty Treat Thursday’ and ‘You haven’t been to the dentist yet because of COVID but your dog can! Here, have a dental stick.’”

Whenever their neighbors are going for a walk with their pets, making a stop-over becomes a part of their routine. They love it so much they started sending thank-you cards for the couple’s sweet gesture.

Others even send letters with some cash to help them buy the supplies. Andrew was able to buy tennis balls from the donations they received!

“It is so gratifying doing something for the community because really Tulsa has great people in this community who give back, and this is the little thing that we can do to give back to the neighborhood that we love,” he said.

It is simple and absolutely sweet. It makes us want to be their neighbors too!
