A man got stuck in the snow in a remote area of Willamette National Forest in Oregon with no cell service to call for help. He used a drone to attach his cell phone and send a text message to a trusted person with his exact location.
Thanks to his ingenuity, members of Lane County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue were able to locate and rescue him and another stranded motorist.
Officials praised the man’s creativity but reminded people to heed their warnings during wintertime travel and always inform a responsible person about their destination and expected return time.
