Alice Garrido Gallardo’s father didn’t want another dog at all. He was still grieving the loss of their old dog and he didn’t think he could ever care for another one.

That’s why when Alice asked her dad if they could adopt a rescued dog, he was very much opposed to the idea.

But that was before he met Jean Grey.

Jean Grey was a stray dog when she was rescued by Alice’s friend. Alice wanted to adopt her because she thinks a new dog is what her grieving father needs.

“We had lost our old dog and he didn’t want to have another one anytime soon,” Alice told The Dodo. “He was still grieving.”

Alice did not give up. She’s sure her dad will adore Jean Grey so she decided to arrange an introduction between the two.

“He fell in love the day I brought her home,” Alice said.

As time went on, his love for the dog he didn’t want only grew stronger. He found the most wonderful way to show it — by tucking her into bed every single night.

“He began to put her to bed every night,” Gallardo said.

Each and every night now, Alice’s dad tucks Jean Grey into bed, placing a pillow under her head and a toy beside her.

“I love to see them, my dad being super loving and affectionate,” Gallardo said. “I love to see them and know that they love each other very much.”
