The 27-year-old athlete, who represents the U.K. in the Games, was spotted knitting at the stands during the women’s diving competition on Sunday morning. He had just won his gold medal in the men’s 10m platform event and returned to the stands to cheer on his colleagues.

A BBC commentator announced, “There’s Tom Daley — he’s got his knitting needles out. What do you reckon he’s crafting there? I wonder who he’s making that purple concoction for?”

Even the official Olympics Twitter account shared the knitting scene.

They wrote, “Oh this? Just Olympic champ @TomDaley1994 knitting in the stands while watching the diving.”

A fan updated everyone by sharing screenshots of Daley’s Instagram stories with the caption, “Important Tom Daley knitting update: he was making a dog jumper and it is finished.”

Daley wrote on Sunday on his knitting Instagram account, “I made my friends some doggy jumpers! It is the cutest little pattern to follow by @knittingland ❤️ How cute do they all look?! I was making another one at the pool yesterday lol.”

He also shared several adorable pictures of pups sporting his masterpieces.

The diver shared on his Instagram stories that the purple sweater he was knitting on the stands was for a French bulldog named Izzy.

He wrote, “I don’t have a dog to show you what it looks like on, but this is the dog jumper I was making.” The caption on the video read, “@Izzythe.frenchie I FINISHED YOUR SWEATER!”

Earlier on July 27, Daley also crafted a pouch for his gold medal.

The diver wrote via Instagram, “Learning to knit and crochet has helped me so much through these Olympics and we won GOLD yesterday ???? I made a little medal case too! ???????????????? YAY!” The pouch showed a U.K. flag on the front and Japan’s flag on the back.

Fans admired his work and remarked that he may need to make more pouches for his teammates and his future wins.
