Bill Sumiel, a man who needed a kidney, got the help he needed from an unlikely source – his Uber driver. During the ride to his dialysis center, Sumiel and his driver, Tim Letts, struck up a conversation, and by the end of the trip, Letts offered him his kidney.
It turned out to be a match, and one year after the surgery, Sumiel feels great and is rehabbing at the University of Delaware’s Renal Rehab center.
Sumiel believes it was divine intervention that placed them in the same car just when he needed it the most, and Letts, who lives in Germany, is still best friends with the person whose life he saved.
