When it is Halloween, people go to great lengths to make themselves scary.  The attempts can make people laugh or cry or even scream in fright.  And pets are not exempted from the costumes.

One dad decided to dress up their dog in a lion costume and it did not get the desired reaction from the toddlers in the Halloween party that he brought the dog to.

For us, adults, the dog looked adorably cute and funny.  But for the kids, he looked so convincing as a lion that they screamed! They scrambled to get out of the dog’s way.

Viewers of TikTok user @godblessthismess21’s video commented on the dog’s reaction to the frightened kiddos.

User @kallienelson wrote, ‘The dog is probably like “What’s so scary?! Is there something behind me?!”‘ while @honeypott247, quipped, ‘Poor puppy is probably thinking “Gosh, kids usually like me.”‘

For others, the dog was certainly a lion with a dog’s bark.  They found the kids’ reactions funny.  As @mandymagerr said, “Two seconds in…immediately started laughing. He’s adorable,” and @alexandme04 added, “He’s the cutest lion ever. I’m dying from laughter.”

Now it is a toss up as a failure or a success.  If the intention was to make the kids go up to the dog and pet him, it failed.  But if the goal was to scare people at the Halloween party, it would have been a roaring success.
