Dog Only Has Eyes For One Ornament On Christmas Tree, Steals It Every Day [Video]

  • For the past Christmas, Ryder the dog has just been looking at the Christmas toys on their Christmas tree.
  • This year, Ryder has been getting just one toy, Eeyore, from the tree to play and nap with.
  • The family allows him to play with it and then puts it back on the tree.

Ever since Ryder the dog joined his family in putting up the Christmas tree, he was content with just letting them decorate it.  He wondered why they had to hang the toy ornaments on the tree when he could play with them, but he knew the toys were off-limits.

But there is one that he had his eyes on since last Christmas — Eeyore.  Last year, he was content with just admiring the toy from afar. But this time, he is not letting Eeyore just hang there.

And the plan is to make sure that no one is around before he sneaks up to the tree and steals Eeyore!

Lauren Chang, one of Ryder’s family members said, “When he steals it, he just holds it in his mouth or brings it to his bed or the couch to take a nap.” She added, “He has only ever stolen Eeyore, even though there are similar stuffed ornaments on the tree.”

The family cannot figure out what makes Eeyore so special that Ryder has singled it out. But for now, they are allowing Ryder to play with the toy and then place it back to the tree.

Chang said, “We don’t always take it away from him right away — sometimes he gets to sleep with it.”

Christmas is just for a short time.  Ryder’s hours with Eeyore are fleeting.  When Christmas is over, Eeyore would be stored again with all the Christmas stuff. For now, they are letting Ryder have Eeyore as his Christmas buddy.

The family is wondering whether Ryder would still have Ryder’s attention next year.  Will it become a Christmas tradition for Ryder and Eeyore to be together or would Ryder set his eyes on another trinket next year?  If he still chooses Eeyore, that would make for a happy Christmas reunion.
