Have you ever heard of a dog who purrs? Perhaps they’re like Winston, a sweet pup who was raised with cats.

Winston was just a puppy when he was welcomed into Beth Clark’s family. Beth and her family have been rescuing and fostering cats, so when Winston arrived, he already had six feline siblings.

Beth told The Dodo, “He joined six cats. They all bonded together in such a loving way.”

It turns out that all the time spent with cats influenced the sweet pup in a strange way.

Just like most pets, Winston loves getting attention in the form of loving pets. He was just about 4 months old when his mom noticed that he made an unexpected sound whenever she petted him.

He was purring — just like his cat siblings!

Beth recalled, “At first, I was taken aback. But I quickly figured out that what he was actually doing was a vocal expression of contentment that he had learned from his siblings!”

A purring dog surely sounds unusual, but purring is a lovely sound no matter where it comes from. It’s a sound of happiness and contentment, after all.

Winston’s purring is music to his mom’s ears because it lets her know that he’s happy. His feline siblings do the same, anyway.

Beth shared, “It shows that no matter the species, the ability to express love and affection can transcend even the most obvious differences!”
