We all have our fears, whether it be simple or complex. Some are afraid of creepy crawlies, some are scared of heights, and others are afraid of the dark. One dog shares this fear, and with the winter months bringing in more of the night, he has to learn how to face his fear — with just a little help from his trusty flashlight.

In a TikTok video shared by user jakeyboo20, Jake the Labrador/Huntaway cross can be seen using a flashlight while he goes out to perform bathroom duties during the night.

When his owner hands him the flashlight, he holds it in his mouth to light his way.

The video instantly grew viral, with over 5.6 million views and more than 600,000 likes.

Viewers were quick to praise Jake’s clever skills.

One user commented, perhaps with a pun: “Man that dog has a bright future!”

The clip also inspired other pet parents to teach their dog the same trick, especially for dogs who are also afraid of the dark like Jake. One even said that they also had a black Lab who’s scared of the dark.
