  • Potato loves being pet as early as six months old.
  • Since then, she has been being greeted by people in the neighborhood, which makes her so thrilled every single time.
  • Her parents did not let the pandemic stop her meet-and-greet, so they put up a lovely sign to let people know that they can continue their pre-pandemic habit.

Potato’s favorite thing in the world is greeting everyone in the neighborhood, every single day.

Her parent, Cee, told The Dodo that Potato’s “personality is like a door greeter at a grocery store.”

And this habit has been prominent ever since she was only six months old, where she first showed signs of being so fond of people and loving the gesture of being pet.

This little daily venture was almost halted when pandemic happened, as people thought that Potato’s family would want to refrain from having her pet by others. Little did they know that it was okay for the pup’s parents that Potato would keep receiving hi’s and sweet acts of love from the neighborhood.

To clear out any confusion, and so Potato can continue receiving the love she deserves, her parents made a sign.

“We wanted to reassure people it was OK to pet her,” Cee said. “Plus, she was getting depressed from the sudden lack of attention. She started barking at people she knew who normally pet her who had stopped. And we figured it would be a nice way to be connected to our neighbors and to help people feel a little less lonely during this weird time.”

Soon enough, Potato had this cute and friendly intro sign, which is a perfect reflection of her personality!

Her parents posted it on the fence, outside the house, which made people even more head over heels with the pup. And it surely has brought a breath of fresh air in the neighborhood, especially in this trying time where home quarantines are a commonplace.

“I first met Potato walking with my girlfriend in our neighborhood,” Sean Carr, one of Potato’s neighbors, told The Dodo. “With COVID my photography business was basically shut down, and she was working from home. We’d walk around looking at houses and all of the flowers and plants. One day we noticed the sign and that sweet little Potato. We’ve probably gone by at least once a week since to see if Potato is out.”

The pretty sign has not only drawn more attention to Potato but has also brought so much joy to random passersby.

“People have been waiting 6 feet apart in a line on really nice days,” Cee said. “We are thinking of getting those spacer circles for the ground on the sidewalk… If it’s a nice day and not raining and we’re home, she’s out there all day, from 10 a.m. to sunset.”

Cee added that there were times when people call her name while she’s inside the house, and that signal would make her rush outside so she wouldn’t miss them.
