  • Kevin Ford, 54, has been working as a cook and a cashier at a Burger King in Las Vegas for the past 27 years.
  • He recently posted a “thank you” video for receiving a gift for his perfect attendance on the job which social media users did not approve of.
  • They helped Kevin by donating to a GoFundMe campaign for the humble worker which already raised nearly $400,000.

Kevin Ford, a food service employee, recently posted an Instagram video to show his appreciation for a thank you gift he received from Burger King. The 54-year-old cook and cashier had perfect attendance on the job for 27 years.

Social media users were furious when they learned that Kevin only received a reusable Starbucks cup, a small pouch of candy, a pen, and a single movie ticket for his exemplary service. So, they decided to give Kevin a much nicer gift — $270,000 in personal donations for the hardworking man and father.

Kevin’s unwrapping video on Instagram was viewed over 2 million times, though not everyone was as grateful and appreciative as Kevin, who said thank you for every item he received.

“Did they really only give him ONE movie ticket tho??” one person wrote on the TikTok version of the video.

“And he’s so humble and kind about it. This pisses me off so much. He deserves so much more,” another person commented on Reddit.

Ford’s oldest daughter Seryna, set up a GoFundMe for him with the initial goal of $200 — just enough so he can buy a plane ticket to visit his grandchildren. She confirmed in writing that indeed, her dad had never missed a scheduled shift.

“The man in that video is my father. He originally began working at this job as a single father when he gained custody of me and my older sister 27 years ago,” Seryna added. “In no way are we asking for money or is he expecting any money but if anyone feels like blessing him he would love to visit his grandchildren.”

In just over two weeks, this good man who works at the Burger King at Las Vegas McCarren International Airport received nearly $400,000, including $5,000 from comedian David Spade.

Burger King, the restaurant Kevin works in, and HMSHost, the staffing company that mans it, explained in their statements that the gift Kevin received was a peer-to-peer recognition and not a franchise award for 27 years of immaculate service.

“For all those years, you feel unappreciated, but you get up just like everybody else. You do your job, and for somebody to show this appreciation is just overwhelming,” Kevin told TODAY in an interview. “It’s like I’ve been in a dream for almost two days now. It’s just so beautiful and awesome.”
