Two years ago, a Kemp’s ridley sea turtle was found stranded and barely clinging to life on a beach in Wales.

Rescuers named him Rhossi and immediately began a remarkable journey to give him the specialized care he needed.

After a helicopter ride from Wales to London and a transatlantic flight to Houston, Rhossi arrived at the Houston Zoo for rehabilitation.

Staff there provided round-the-clock care that helped him regain strength and health.

Today Rhossi is thriving and getting ready to return to the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico.

His story shows how dedicated people around the world can work together to save even the rarest creatures.

“Rhossi’s recovery is a testament to the power of compassion and teamwork,” said a Houston Zoo spokesperson.
