Kelsey Boone shared her teaching adventures on Instagram until welcoming son Boston, diagnosed with Coffin-Siris Syndrome and total hearing loss.

She left her classroom to become his full-time caregiver, and as his first birthday neared, family and friends gathered to sign and sing Happy Birthday in ASL.

Kelsey led the heartfelt performance, creating an unforgettable moment for the joyful boy.

“Our people are truly one of a kind and I’ll never be over this core memory,” Kelsey shared on Instagram.

“The year we learned about my son’s sensory struggles, we asked everyone to whisper during the singing part (in past birthdays he would scream and go crazy because of the sound waves of voices).”

“Watching everyone sing quietly without a question was the most loving thing I could experience as a parent.”

“Boston hit the jackpot with you as his mom, and this as his village,” another person wrote.

“This is so beautiful,” they wrote. “My son who we lost to meningitis was likely to be deaf if he survived and my husband said “you know everyone who loves him will learn sign language” and this was what I envisioned. Boston is so SO loved.”
