  • Lisa and her family were away when her dog, Catcher, escaped and wandered away from home.
  • Thankfully, a FedEx driver spotted the pup and decided to stop what he was doing to return the dog back home.
  • Lisa, grateful for what the kind driver had done, is hoping to meet him personally to say thanks.

Delivery drivers could be very busy with their jobs, but there are still those who are exceptionally kind and go beyond their call of duty.

Lisa Menzies from Castle Pines, Colorado, can attest to that.

Recently, her dog named Catcher, a golden retriever, went out for a walk while the rest of the family was on vacation. The 3-year-old dog slipped through an unlatched door.

“We were getting some repairs done on the house. Our contractor left to go to lunch and shut the front door — and the wind blew the door open while I was gone, and Catcher escaped,” Lisa explained.

Fortunately, a friendly FedEx driver saw Catcher before she could wander far from home.

When the driver texted Lisa to inform her, she was equally shocked and grateful. “He just said, ‘I found your dog, and the address on her tag is where I’m going to take her’ and then he put her in the house with such care,” she recalled.

The kind deed was captured by their Ring camera. The footage showed how the driver pulled over and stopped what he was doing to help the dog get back home.

“Seeing him carry her into the house like that… In my head, I was thinking of the theme song from the Titanic,” Lisa said jokingly. “He was taking such care and love with her that it was really amusing.”

Lisa is really thankful that her dog was rescued even before anything bad could happen to her outside in the freezing weather. “She could have wandered out to a busy road and you hate to think what’s going to happen then,” she said. And she wants to thank the driver personally for that.

“He interrupted his day and his package delivery schedule to pick her up and hand carry her into our home and lock the door behind him. I don’t want to think about where else she could have ended up,” she said. “He is certainly our family’s hero.”

This kind FedEx driver has reminded us that while it is easier to ignore such things, it always pays to be kind!
