Despite thinking that he was not a cat person, he ended up becoming one. He soon embraced the role of cat dad, only to get a much bigger surprise later on.

Tom noticed that the cat, named Whiskey, was starting to put on some noticeable pounds.

He told WTRF, “She got a little bigger and bigger, and I thought I was overfeeding her.”

After consulting a veterinarian, he found out that Whiskey was actually pregnant!

“The way my luck is, it wasn’t that big of a surprise, but it was very overwhelming,” he told the news station.

But after observing the growing cat family, he observed Whiskey’s parenting and knew that she was a good mother.

He shared, “I think a lot of pet owners will tell you, and I wasn’t really much of a believer until I rescued her, but I didn’t rescue her. She rescued me.”

Still, Tom might not be able to care for all the kittens himself, so most of them will find new families through adoptions. He plans to keep at least one of the kittens, however, to keep Mommy Whiskey company.
