Four Friends Create Dream Neighborhood, Living on the Same Street

Quick Smiles:
- Four lifelong friends now live on the same street, creating a close-knit community.
- They maintain personal boundaries while enjoying the convenience of proximity.
- Their children benefit from growing up together in this unique neighborhood.
Imagine living just a few steps away from your best friends—it’s a dream come true for four women in their 40s. After 17 years of friendship, Sarabeth Stine, Kelly Holbin, Erinn Cottman, and Kristi W. have all found homes on the same street in Atlanta, Georgia.
Sarabeth was the first to settle in the neighborhood, and when Kelly found a house nearby a decade ago, it was a delightful surprise.
“I text her to ask would it be weird if I lived in the same neighborhood. She was like ‘absolutely not’,” Kelly shared.
This decision led to morning workouts and walks together, strengthening their friendship.
Three years ago, an opportunity arose for Erinn to join them when a house across from Sarabeth became available. Initially hesitant, Erinn eventually embraced the idea.
“At first she said it would be creepy, but then went for it,” Sarabeth explained.
This move allowed their sons, aged eight and ten, to grow up together, running back and forth between the houses.
The final addition to the street came after the pandemic when Kristi secretly decided to purchase a house next to Sarabeth.
Kristi recounted her clever plan: “I made up a story and said ‘would you guys come and look at a house – I really want your opinion?’”
Once they were in the car, she revealed her surprise: “Then I told them I was buying the house.”
Sarabeth remembers, “That’s when we lost our minds.”
Since Kristi’s move in March 2023, the group has cherished living close while respecting each other’s space.
“Having people you can count on that are like family,” Kristi said, “That’s really important.”
Despite their proximity, they don’t always see each other daily, sometimes going days without crossing paths.
“We’re all so busy. It’s easy to miss each other,” Sarabeth noted.
Yet, the assurance that someone always has their back remains a comforting constant.
“What makes us special is regardless of what has happened, we have an ability to accept each other–and be vulnerable with each other.”
This unique arrangement has not only reinforced their bond but has also enriched their lives, proving that home is truly where your friends are.
