What You Need To Know!

  • A couple who had lived in the same neighborhood for 40 years without meeting fell in love after connecting on the hyperlocal online bulletin board, Nextdoor.
  • They discovered they had many things in common, including hanging out in the same park as kids, having children at the same schools, and visiting the same pubs.
  • After seven months of dating, they spend half their time together and are considering marriage.

Love is in the air in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, England! Chris Place, 44, and Michelle Tooby, both long-time residents of the same neighborhood, connected on the online community bulletin board Nextdoor.

After spotting Michelle’s picture, Chris sent her a ‘wave’ notification, and they began chatting online. Two weeks later, they went on a date and discovered they had a lot in common, despite never having met before.

They found they had shared experiences, including hanging out in the same park as kids, having children at the same schools, and visiting the same pubs.

Michelle even recognized Chris’s car, and they realized they had crossed paths many times before. They soon became an item, spending half their time together, and they share a love of hobbies like going out, driving, and gardening.

Chris’s 22-year-old daughter and Michelle’s son, 20, had even shared schools over the years. “We’ve crossed paths no end of times since we were very young. It’s like it just wasn’t meant to happen until now,” said Chris. Michelle added, “Neither of us were looking for love. We’d completely given up. I’m so glad we’ve found each other.”

Nextdoor is an app where neighbors can message other members from the community, plan meet-ups, and share local information.

Chris revealed he’s planning for the future but hasn’t popped the question yet. Who knows, maybe the couple will soon be known as “Place-Tooby,” like “place-to-be”!
